Course description

Ask a data team in Islamabad or Karachi what they are moving to and a lot of them say Microsoft Fabric. One platform with storage, pipelines, Spark, a SQL warehouse, real-time data and Power BI under the same roof. The catch is that people who already know Power BI or SQL open Fabric for the first time and can't tell which of the many items to create first. This course fixes that, with eight weeks of building real things in a real Fabric workspace.

Onsite, we meet for five classes a week, Monday to Friday, three hours each, in either the 3:00 to 6:00 PM or the 6:00 to 9:00 PM shift. That is the pace the outline below is written for. The online batch meets on Saturday and Sunday and follows the same week-by-week outline at its own pace, so you cover the same topics and the same labs. We build one story from week one to week eight: a Pakistani business sends us messy files, and we turn them into a governed, refreshing, secured dashboard.

You'll write PySpark and T-SQL, build pipelines, model for Direct Lake, stream a few events into a KQL database and set an alert on them. The course also helps you prepare for Microsoft's DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer) and DP-700 (Fabric Data Engineer) exams. Those exams are Microsoft's own, we can prepare you but we can't promise a pass. Fabric changes its menus often, so we teach the concepts first and tell you to check Microsoft's current documentation whenever a detail is likely to move.

What You'll Learn

Explain how a Fabric tenant, capacity, workspace, item and OneLake fit together, and set up a clean workspace for a team
Build a Lakehouse with bronze, silver and gold layers in Delta format, and use shortcuts instead of copying data
Create Data Factory pipelines and Dataflows Gen2 with parameters, schedules and failure alerts
Write PySpark notebooks that clean, join and write Delta tables, and keep those tables healthy with OPTIMIZE and VACUUM
Model a star schema in a Fabric Warehouse and query it with T-SQL, including through the SQL analytics endpoint of a Lakehouse
Build a semantic model in Direct Lake mode, write DAX measures and secure the report with row-level security
Stream events with an Eventstream, query them in an Eventhouse with KQL and trigger an Activator alert
Deliver an end-to-end capstone and prepare for Fabric job interviews and the DP-600 and DP-700 exams
Onsite weekday batches on the Islamabad campus in two shifts: 3:00-6:00 PM and 6:00-9:00 PM, Monday to FridayAn online weekend batch (Saturday and Sunday, live) that follows the same week-by-week outlineHands-on labs every class, in a real Fabric workspace, with a mentor beside youPakistani business data throughout: distributors, banks, telecom, retailA graded capstone, a certificate on completion and a final assessmentDP-600 and DP-700 exam preparation and interview practice (the exams are Microsoft's, a pass is not guaranteed)

Final Assessment: Become a Hands-on Fabric Expert

Twenty-five questions across all eight weeks. You need 70 percent to pass and earn the course certificate. You have 60 minutes.

25 questions

Set up a Fabric workspace the way a team would

Start a trial, create Dev and Prod workspaces, assign roles to two classmates, and write down which item goes where and why. Most messes we see in real tenants begin with one giant workspace nobody owns.

Hands-on Lab Task

Land raw files and build bronze, silver and gold

Load a distributor's CSV exports into a Lakehouse, clean them into silver Delta tables and build a gold sales table. Then drop in a corrected file and replay the whole chain without hand edits.

Hands-on Lab Task

Build a parameterised pipeline with an alert

Create a pipeline that loops over a list of tables, copies each one with a Copy activity, runs a notebook and sends you a message when something fails. Break it on purpose, then read the run history to find out why.

Hands-on Lab Task

Write a PySpark notebook that deduplicates and joins

Clean a telecom recharge extract, remove duplicate transactions with a window function, join the dimensions and write a Delta table. Check the row counts before and after, and explain every row that went missing.

Hands-on Lab Task

Model and load a warehouse star schema

Create fact and dimension tables in a Fabric Warehouse, load them from your lakehouse with T-SQL, and check that a Power BI slicer gives the same total as your SQL.

Hands-on Lab Task

Ship a Direct Lake report with row-level security and an alert

Build a semantic model over your gold tables, create a regional security role, test it with View as, and set an Activator rule on a live event stream that messages you when a threshold is crossed.
